What is Phoscal®?
The
active ingredient in Dentacal Mouth Moistener is Phoscal®, a chemical
complex between the casein phosphoprotein derived from dairy milk
and nanoclusters of amorphous calcium phosphate.
Milk has often been proposed as a mouth moistening liquid for people
with impaired salivary flow. It coats the oral mucosa and produces
a high degree of oral comfort. Unfortunately the milky taste palls
with repetitive use, the milk sugars are a potential source of tooth
decay, the high fat content is undesirable and the need for refrigeration
makes it impractical for people on the move.
Uniquely formulated Dentacal Mouth Moistener was developed to overcome
these problems. It gives the benefits of milk as a mouth moistener
in a pleasant-tasting (mint flavored) liquid that is fat free, does
not contain lactose and does not require refrigeration.
The Benefits of Phoscal®
Apart from its desirable mouth moistening properties, Phoscal boosts
the ability of saliva to protect and repair teeth by natural means.
The casein phosphoprotein binds to the tooth surface and forms a layer
which minimizes the adhesion of the bacteria principally responsible
